The mission of 360° of Giving is to bring full circle the resources and talents of women to promote opportunities for women and to benefit organizations serving women and girls.
An architect, financial consultant, housewife, accountant, bankruptcy lawyer, mother, development director, sales manager and small business owner came together to brainstorm new opportunities for building philanthropy into the lives of women in the Kansas City community. These women wanted to learn, share and grow through the collective power of giving.
In, 2003 they established a philanthropic giving circle affiliated with The Women’s Foundation - 360° of Giving.
Today, some 30 women (ages 20 and up) contribute $250 annually to a pool. Funds are then granted to nonprofits serving women and girls in Kansas City. The nonprofits selected use these funds to provide paid internships for young women. Bringing full circle the money donated by the 360° of Giving members.
The impact is threefold:
- The interns receive training, work experience and mentoring while earning a salary.
- The organizations attract highly qualified applicants, get the staff they need, and enjoy the energy and education of talented women.
- The participating members of 360° of Giving learn about the philanthropic process, share knowledge and experience and expand the work of The Women’s Foundation.
Over the years, 360° of Giving has awarded 15 grants totaling $52,580.
